Are you aged 60 to 90 and have a BMI of 25 or less? See if you might be eligible for our malnutrition study.

Who is it for and how is it different?

For people aged 60 to 90 who are having trouble maintaining their weight and have a BMI of 25 kg/m² or more (if in doubt, we will assess your BMI with you over the phone).

Purpose: To assess whether the study could help older adults showing signs of malnutrition.

With age, unintentional weight loss can happen.

Lower appetite. Fatigue. Clothes that become too big.

Malnutrition can affect energy and quality of life.

Talking about it isn't always easy.

What if we better understood what's going on?

This study could help doctors and researchers find ways to improve the care of people aged 60 to 90 affected by malnutrition.

Your role: to participate, if eligible, in a supervised protocol.

Our role: to support you gently and clearly, and potentially help you regain a healthy weight.

How does it work?

  1. Mini questionnaire (2 minutes) to see if you might be eligible at the bottom of the page.
  2. Pre-screening meeting (nurse and doctor): we explain everything and answer your questions.
  3. Study follow-up: visits planned according to the protocol, follow-up calls as needed.

What is BMI?

It's a simple calculation using height and weight. A BMI of 25 or less often corresponds to a slim build in adults.

How can I quickly find out my BMI?

I'm taking medication. Is that a problem?

Not necessarily. We'll check it together according to the protocol. Tell us everything when we call you after receiving your form; we'll guide you.

I don't eat much, but I'm not "sick."

Every situation is different. The study aims to better understand. The pre-screening is there to answer your questions.

Is there a cost?

No, study-related visits are at no cost to you. A stipend is offered according to the protocol.

Can I bring a loved one?

Yes. You can be accompanied during the visits.

The study process in pictures

Explanation

Step 1 | Before starting the study, we will take time to fully explain the selection process and the conduct of the study by phone.

Meeting

Step 2 | After the initial phone interview, if you are still interested in taking part in a study, we schedule a preliminary meeting with you during which you may ask all the questions you wish and take the time you require to read over the consent form. This form explains, in detail, the different stages of each study.

Decision

Step 3 | You may make a decision at that time to move forward with or terminate the selection process. However, you are under no obligation to make an immediate decision. Based on briefing content, you may take the time necessary to come to a decision and consult with your personal physician or loved ones.

Tests

Step 4 | Depending on the nature of the study, some tests or medical examinations may be required. In the majority of cases, these tests or examinations are conducted on Diex Research premises based on your individual availability.
